Best Restaurants & Bars In Calgary

Everywhere we ate & drank while visiting Calgary for 24 Hours.

Best Food In Calgary

We only spent 24 hours in Calgary but we spent majority of our time restaurant and bar hopping to test out all the best places in the city.

Where to eat & drink in Calgary

Everywhere we ate & drank in Calgary

For the most part we stayed in the main tourist area of the city and tried the top tourist restaurants and bars, we had an awesome time hopping from bar to restaurant. We made sure to experience as many restaurants as possible in our 24 hours. Everywhere we went was delicious, and a little over priced.

Nandos

We stopped here right after we landed, the rental car guy told us this was a must when visiting Canada. You order at the counter and then they bring the food out to you. I was surprised to find so many vegetarian options on this menu since their main menu item is chicken. This place was good, Anthony really enjoyed his chicken, I thought it was ok but nothing too special. Side note, the food is very spicy here but the sauces are amazing.

Our orders:

I ordered the veggie burger and fries, the veggie burger was pretty basic except the bun made it taste 10x better. The fries are a must order here, the seasoning is perfect. Anthony got the half chicken with fries, he loved it and wanted to go back a second time.

Bottlescrew Bills Pub

Our bartender at our hotel reccommended we stop here for a drink. They have the biggest beer selection in Calgary, beers from all over the world. You can even get a "passport" and drink around the world. This bar has a really fun vibe with a big outdoor patio, seemed to be a lot of locals here drinking. They also have an awesome happy hour Monday-Friday, 3-4 PM $3 beers, 4-5 PM $4 beers, 5-6 PM $5 beers.

Our Order:

I had to order Anthony poutine to try while we were in Canada, He really enjoyed it. They even put the gravy on the side so I could have the fries & cheese. As for drinks, I got Eighty Eight Hologram White Ale & Anthony got Wild Rose Electric Ave Blonde (which the waitress recommended). We enjoyed our beers and had a great time here.

Earls on 8th st

We decided to keep walking around the city and find some appetizers to share, Earls on 8th was pretty busy and they had a great vegetarian menu. This place has a trendy vibe with loud music, everyone was dressed nice. We also stopped back here the next day for lunch, clearly we liked the food. The lunch vibe was more chill and on the weekends they have brunch.

Our Order:

Our first time there we split the buffalo cauliflower, the best buffalo cauliflower I've ever had. Even Anthony loved it. For our drinks, I got the Origin Brewing Raspberry Short Shorts beer and Anthony got the Rhino Lager. My beer didn't even taste like a beer, very good. The next day for lunch we both got the Hunan Kung Pao except I got the vegan one and his had chicken. You get to pick the spicy level (1-6), I picked 2 and Anthony picked 3. We both thought our meals were not spicy, the perfect flavor.

The Unicorn Calgary's Superpub

We stopped here after our appetizer at Earls for another drink. Really fun bar, the upstairs was all sports the downstairs had random shows on the tv, meant more for families and dinner. Great place to go with a group of people for some drinks.

Our Order:

We just grabbed some beers here, I forgot to write them down. I know we had a great time and enjoyed our drinks. The service was surprisingly amazing.

Shawarma House

At this point it was about 10 PM, we were very hungry and all the main restaurants and bars were packed. We happened to walk by the Shawarma House, we debated if we really wanted to eat here and I am so happy we did. The best food we had in Calgary. The worker was so nice, he even gave us free dessert. It does look like a hole in the wall but I promise the food is delicious.

Our Order:

I had falafel with rice, hummus, and other veggies. So so so good and a lot of food. Anthony got the meat order which also gave him one falafel.

If you have been to Calgary & tried some awesome restaurants, place them in the comments below. Unfortunately we only had 24 hours in this city so we didn't get to try a ton of places but we enjoyed everywhere we went!
